Elizabeth is the Researcher Development Manager at the University of Glasgow, leading a team to deliver high quality professional and career development opportunities for 3500+ early-career researchers across the University. This includes directing a programme of over 200 events a year, with both internally and externally accredited programmes designed to support talent development and enhance the student experience.
Elizabeth works with academic and professional services staff, as well as closely with the postgraduate researcher community, alumni and employers, to analyse training needs and develop innovative learning and development strategies and policies for staff and students. Elizabeth is the key point of contact for the University’s HR Excellence in Research Award and responsible for the 3 Minute Thesis Competition and PGR / postdoc entrepreneurship training. She is the Chair of the Universities Scotland Researcher Development and Training Committee and represents the University on several UK groups or forums to share practice and advance policy relating to researcher development, entrepreneurship and research integrity. She is the Glasgow lead for the Postdocs2Innovators network, a joint initiative between five Higher Education Institutes and three global enterprises to support and strengthen the innovation mindset in postdoctoral researchers and encourage not just entrepreneurial activities but a broad approach to any endeavour both in and outside academia.
